Day Trip to Inchcolm Island
Sunday 10 October 2010 | 1215pm-600pm
This Sunday, XY is going to make a trip to Inchcolm Island, A beautiful place with a desolate Abbey known popularly as the Iona of the East.
Most of will be travelling there by train to Dalmeny and then making the pretty walk down to South Queensferry to board the Maid of the Forth. This will mean catching the 12:15pm train so we’ll be meeting outside Boots in Waverley Station at 12noon sharp. For those of you attending Mass at Old Saint Paul’s this will probably mean leaving immediately after you’ve made your Communion.
There is a latter train at 1:15pm which you may choose to catch independently but this cuts things very thin to make 2pm sailing, which is the only sailing to Inchcolm that day.
The Ferry returns to South Queensferry for 5pm and people may wish to stop for a drink on the Waterfront before making their way back to Edinburgh or you can catch the 5:37pm train which gets into Waverley Station at 6:01pm.
Old Saint Paul’s have kindly agreed they will reimburse half the cost of the trip meaning the combined cost to you for the train, ferry and admission to the abbey will be £9.10 or slightly less for concessions. Please do use Student Cards and Railcards if you have them.
You will want to bring waterproofs and warm clothes and probably some food.
If you intend to go on the trip it would be useful to know so please RSVP to
