As the name implies, our core activity is the preparation of Parish Lunches. In recent years these have been held on our Patronal Festivals - the celebrations of the Church’s dedicated Saint - the Conversion of St Paul in late January and the Feast of Saints Peter and Paul in late June.
In addition, we have regularly prepared a Parish Lunch on the Feast of Christ the King, the Sunday before Advent begins, which has always seemed appropriate to us for what used to be referred to as ‘Stir-up’ Sunday!
There may not be Christmas pudding but a good warming meal is provided and received. Apart from the lunches, the Group also has responsibility for the great institution of Parish Breakfast after the Easter Vigil Mass (so many eggs, so little time, so early in the morning!!). We also seek to provide a little light refreshment on the ‘pink’ Sundays, third in Advent and fourth in Lent, where an appropriately Rose wine lifts the spirits of all.
The Group includes a number of members who have the essential food hygiene training and certificates, and who can assist with catering at other OSP events. That is, however, strictly according to availability, and enquiries need to be made well in advance of any planned event.
