Tithing Group

By tradition Old Saint Paul’s members contribute a 10 per cent tithe of the Church’s net income to charitable organisations. The Tithing Group meets regularly to discuss applications to the fund and to ensure that people are aware opportunities to make nominations.

We’ve given to a range of different organisations, all with an emphasis on fairly small amounts of money making a substantive difference. The causes we’ve supported include helping homeless people to establish themselves in a place of their own; providing a centre for those suffering from addiction and their families on Benbecula with a member of staff; getting some special needs children off to enjoy an entertainment or two and running a chilled van for a year so as to distribute donated food to hostels.
