Walking Group
The Walking Group organises walks for members of the congregation and their friends on a regular basis, usually on the fourth Saturday of each month. We’re always delighted to meet new members.
Walks are generally within easy reach of Edinburgh and a perfect opportunity to meet other members of OSP in a relaxed, informal and generally uncluttered setting. We usually finish with tea or a drink.
About our Walks
Our walks, organised by group members, are suitable for all ages and levels of fitness. They can be full or half days (particularly in the winter) and anything from 3 to 13 miles in length. Over the past three years, we have enjoyed Ranger-led walks in Holyrood Park, coastal trails in Fife, Berwickshire and East Lothian, and some glorious hill tracks through the Ochils, Pentlands and Moorfoots. We have walked by the majestic Tweed, Yarrow Water and the River North Esk. During the winter months we have enjoyed some fine city walks most recently in the Cammo Estate and along the Water of Leith. Our December Walk is followed by our annual Christmas lunch.
White Rose Newsletter regularly carries reviews of our walks.
How to Get Involved
Particulars, including a description of the walk, details of practical arrangements and a list for signing, are made available two weeks prior to any walk. These are left on the piano at the back of Church. Alternatively, details of our forthcoming walks are linked in the right sidebar of this page.
You are expected to read pre-walk particulars, equip yourself appropriately and, where appropriate, abide by the directions of the walk organizer. All walks are graded (i.e. easy/moderate/strenuous) in the pre-walk particulars. If you are in any doubt as to your suitability for a particular walk – or have any specific queries -you should consult the walk organiser in advance of the walk.
On the day of the walk, we meet outside the main door of OSP and whenever possible travel to our destination by public transport.
