News from the Vestry - June 2008

The Vestry held its latest meeting on 18 June.

The Vestry agreed to launch its eco-congregation programme in the autumn.  It was agreed to support two members of the children’s ministry team who are planning in August to attend a youth camp of our partner diocese of the Cape Coast in Ghana.  Carol Naismith is taking sabbatical leave during August to October.

It was agreed to repeat the annual donations from the overseas fund of £5000 each to the Jenin Cultural Centre, Palestine and to the Lisu project in Burma.  The Vestry also agreed to donate £2000 to Childaid to Russia and the Republics and £1000 to the Swaziland Schools Project.  The first allocations for this year from the tithing group were also approved:  £2000 to the Lisu project specifically for cyclone relief and £2000 to Positive Action in Housing, which works with refugees in Glasgow;

It was reported that, including Gift Aid recoveries, the congregation had raised £917 during the recent Christian Aid week.
