News from the Vestry - September 2008

The Vestry held its latest meeting on 17 September.
The Vestry considered proposals for upgrading facilities in the curate accommodation at 41 Jeffrey Street and approved tenders and other cost allocations totalling £110,000.
It was reported that the Vestry’s application to Historic Scotland and the Heritage Lottery Fund for grant aid to support urgent work on the church roof had received stage 1 approval. It was now required to submit more detailed plans to achieve stage 2 approval and funding. Support from the Heritage Lottery Fund is available to assist with the costs of developing the project proposal. The Vestry is now considering fund-raising prospects for its contribution to this and subsequent projects.
A successful run of ‘Murder in the Cathedral’ was reported. Ticket revenue had exceeded expectations, and a surplus of around £2,350 had been realised.
The Vestry approved its budget for 2009.

It was agreed to make an immediate payment of £5000 from the Overseas Fund to assist the Olive Orissa to assist with humanitarian relief following recent sectarian violence.
Following the resignation from the Vestry of James Hutchinson, Tom Birch has been appointed to fill the resulting casual vacancy until the Annual Meeting in December.
