SNIP opens branch in Fife
Date Posted: Monday 14 April 2008
We helped to support the work of SNIP through the Tithing Group a couple of years ago, and we thought you might like to know a little bit about what the group has been doing.
Their support network is for families who have children with a range of special needs. Some have one of the range of autistic disorders; others may be enduring the horror of a terminally ill child and of course many have other kinds of ongoing problems.
Carrie Upton, from our clergy team, helps to provide support to some of these families through her job as Chaplain at the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
Of course, plans are now underway to build the new Sick Children’s hospital, so in the longer term things will certainly change and hopefully provision will be much better when the infrastructure is better suited to its purpose.
SNIP has now launched a Fife branch and Advocacy Manger, Louise Adam, is delighted. This group now has a Thursday morning parents’ support group which reaches out to families in and around the Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and surrounding area.
If you know of anyone who might find this support helpful, whether in Fife or here in Edinburgh, do direct them to Louise Adam at SNIP: 0131 536 0583
