Summer Diocesan Youth Weeks
Date Posted: Tuesday 25 March 2008
What is Glen?
The idea of the Scottish Episcopal Church’s Glen ’08 is to take a theme and then develop it over two one-week camps. Young people between the ages of 12 and 18 are invited to join either of the weeks. The theme this year is ‘Love Changes Everything’.
The first Glen ‘08 runs from Sunday 3 August through to Saturday 9 and the second from Sunday 10 to Saturday 16 August.
There’s plenty of action in the shape of sport, swimming, arts and craft workshops and a whole bunch of other events along with worship and conversation around the selected theme.
But you will have time to relax, to make new and good friends and generally enjoy yourself in a fun environment
Who’s It For?
The Youth Weeks are open to anyone who’s still in secondary education as well as anyone under 18 who has already left school. You must be sponsored by the Vestry so you’ll need to get that checked out by speaking to one of the Young Adults’ leaders.
Where?
The Youth Weeks happen at Glenalmond College in Perthshire. The college is set in magnificent grounds about 10 miles from Perth. It has superb facilities which include an indoor swimming pool, sports hall, sports fields, squash courts, dedicated arts and music facilities, and much more.
New and varied menus at every meal are provided in the magnificent dining hall. Accommodation is in modern halls of residence, in single or twin rooms. Each room has its own wash-hand basin and there are ample shower facilities in each house. Sheets are provided, but you must bring a sleeping bag or duvet.
How Much?
The total cost of the week is subsidised by the Scottish Episcopal Church. In order to contribute to these costs it is suggested that each person pays £110.00, and your local church vestry pays £90.00.
- You pay: £110.00
- Church vestry pays: £90.00
