Waiting for Christmas

Advent, the season of waiting for Christmas, begins on 29 November (Advent Sunday).

At 6.30 pm on Advent Sunday we have a service of scripture, poetry and music for Advent.

We begin High Mass on the Sundays of Advent with the advent crown.  Each Sunday we light an additional candle, until we have a ring of four lit candles, representing in turn the patriarchs, the prophets, John the Baptist, and the Virgin Mary, waiting for the lighting of the central candle to represent the Christ-child on Christmas Day.
