This is a contemplative concert to be given by soprano Patricia Hammond accompanied by Thomas Flessenkaemper at the piano; the reader is John Helliwell.
The concert consists of sacred music, spiritual poems and prayers from the Scottish Prayer Book of 1929. There is music by Bach, Purcell, Ravel, Grieg, Scriabin, Mahler and others; and poetry by Oscar Wilde, Christina Rossetti, Johann Georg Jacobs and Thomas Leigh.
The programme is most imaginative and varied, and will be an appropriate preparation for our Mass for All Souls the following day, Sunday 3 November, at 6.30pm.
