Safeguarding

Old Saint Paul’s follows the guidelines of the Scottish Episcopal Church on safeguarding the welfare of young people and vulnerable adults. All members of the congregation volunteering in roles which specifically involve interaction with children and young people are required to undergo Disclosure and Barring Service checks.

It is important to remember that the safeguarding message is for everyone in our Church.  Our young people need to feel safe and included in order to participate in the life of our Church, as do vulnerable adults.

If a child, young person or vulnerable adult were to disclose to a volunteer that they have been subjected to any form of abuse, the volunteer will follow SEC guidelines to handle the situation appropriately and refer the situation on to the Children and Vulnerable Adults Protection Coordinator, Norma Walker.
