Online resources

We set up this page to provide digital reflection and worship resources during the coronavirus pandemic, and will continue our service broadcasts to be accessible to all.

Sunday services

Join in with Mass at 10:30am every Sunday using the live stream below. The mobile-friendly service booklets contain everything you need for the service; this now includes notices from the pew sheet.

Donating to OSP online

The church relies on your generosity to operate, which is regularly given in person. If you would like to make an online donation to support the work of Old Saint Paul's during the pandemic restrictions, please visit our Give As You Live page.

The Daily Office

We stream Morning Prayer and Mass live from Monday to Friday at 8:00am on the Old Saint Paul's Facebook page.

The videos will be available after transmission if you can't join in at the time. Please contact media@osp.org.uk if you are having trouble accessing this content.

Compline

We have recorded a service of Sung Compline in traditional language which you can view below. Please join in every day at 9:00pm using the downloadable booklet provided. On Saturday evenings, it is traditional to read the Gospel passage for the following day before Compline begins.

Introduction

Compline is the night prayer of the church. It is a peaceful way to reflect on the past day and trust that you can rest in God.

Please join in with the parts of the service printed in bold. If you wish, join in with the psalms antiphonally, responding with the even-numbered verses while the cantor sings the odd-numbered ones. At the end of the service, the cantor sings the oldest surviving antiphon to the Blessed Virgin Mary, 'Sub tuum praesidium'. The translation is as follows:

Sub tuum praesidium confugimus, Sancta Dei Genetrix.
Nostras deprecationes ne despicias in necessitatibus,
sed a periculis cunctis libera nos semper,
Virgo gloriosa et benedicta.

We fly to Thy protection, O Holy Mother of God;
Do not despise our petitions in our necessities,
but deliver us always from all dangers,
O Glorious and Blessed Virgin.

Prayer and reflection

Fr John is publishing a regular blog post to provide space and material for reflection. Feel free to interact via the comments section.

Please consider joining in with the Jesus Prayer, which acts as an aid to contemplative silence, at 5:00pm on Thursdays.

Worship and learning for children

We would encourage you to watch the live and recorded services with children where possible - an ideal opportunity to ask lots of good questions!

The Godly Play Foundation produces lots of videos on Gospel passages and discipleship. Parentzone Scotland also provide advice for supporting children in their Religious and Moral Education (RME) during school closures.
